Driving Sustainability Performance

A December report from the US Department of Energy estimates that data center energy usage has tripled in the past decade and is expected to once again double or triple by 2028. In a complex web of stakeholders and long timelines that can bottleneck action, there are several immediate steps businesses reliant on data centers can take to promote and advance sustainability.

The list of states in the US with pending or approved Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) packaging laws continues to grow. Producers (defined by EPR to include manufacturers, brand owners or licensees, and importers or distributors) must stay on top of ever-changing and complex regulations to remain compliant, while also adhering to their broader sustainability strategies.

96% of the world’s largest 250 companies now report on sustainability, per a recent survey from KPMG. Global supply chains are feeling the ripple effects, and demand for sustainability-focused advisors and tools is only increasing. Companies that are able to plan for the future and integrate sustainability into the way they do business will thrive.
